key light is the most important light a photographer/cinematographer would use to light the majority of the face/subject. Key lights have more lightbulbs and/or a stronger beam. Meanwhile, the fill light would be less strong but light the other side of the face and "fill in" gaps. Backlight is when the lighting is behind the subject to create an illuminating or dramatic effect and stand out from the background. This creates a three-dimensional effect.
