comic book evaluation

I am pleased with some of the panels, images, and characters - especially the one with three flies looking down at spider ninja (Arino Kitekushi). I am also happy with the experimental panel of the spider's face. I like how it's in a star shape to create suspense and intrigue. I think I have experimented with a few different panels shapes and sizes and for the most part I am happy with the result.

If I had the chance to go back and do this comic again I would create the backgrounds of the image in a more stylised design that coincides with the characters scribbly effect. I would also change some of the boxes for example the first panel on page 1 should have had more space so the viewer could see more detail and what he's doing. I would make several different speech bubbles and have more dialogue. If I had more time I would finish the story as I planned to on the storyboard. I would try out different fonts and font techniques as below. my original design was to do different fonts with different characters to help the reader distinguish how each character speaks in a different way. I later changed this for the most part, which I regret

I used photoshop because I was most comfortable with this program and I've used it in previous projects. I learned and experimented with the WACOM tablet which gave me some of the inspiration to do the scribbling/stylised effect. I started out trying to draw perfectly formed characters and backgrounds with the tablet but quickly realised I'd never used it before and it was difficult to use that way. So I created an effect that was unique but at the same time suited the characters and comic book.
I tried to consider the eyepath which I would never have considered before doing this project, so I researched panels and differing eyepaths . I originally would have gone with the more simplistic approach of just doing rectangles.
I also experimented with doing a motion comic which was a failed attempt. The reason why I never completed the motion comic was that it was difficult to show the story in a motion comic form without it becoming straight forward animation.

I would like to use more Illustrator and Indesign for any future projects. I would also like to push myself out of my comfort zone of photoshop. I have many years of experience with photoshop but only a matter of weeks with Indesign and Illustrator. I would also like to use the WACOM tablet more to create more complex designs.

I used this alphabet to create a name for my spider ninja - Arino Kitekushi - which according to this diagram means spider.
