The video was about using transparency effects. Using the tutorial I adjusted the transparency settings. I have used Indesign before, so I know how it works but I have not used this technique before.

To produce live corners in InDesign 

Draw a rectangle/shape using  the rectangle tool

 Then you click on the single yellow dot and there should be a yellow dot in each and drag sideways to curve the corners collectively

 To curve the corners individually you hold shift (Mac)
